Mr. Ed Andress began building wooden boats in the 1920's. This industry was quite competitive
back then. As times and boating changed only Andress remained synonymous with
the wooden boat industry in Rockport, and the tradition continues to this day.
While fewer wooden boats are being built many boats as old as 50 years continue to find their way back into the Andress shop for winter restoration. Boats built by Shepard, Chris Craft, Hutchinson, Lyman as well as boats of the Andress design are always welcome at Andress Boat Works. Although competition still persists, Andress Boat Works continues with quality and craftmanship.
